Rt. 10: Hamlets to Wilderness

Rt. 10 winds through historic rural hamlets north of the NYS Thruway (Canajoharie Exit 29) from Palatine Bridge to Ephrata to Caroga Lake. Then civilization drops away as you move into Hamilton County through Arietta. The road winds through deep woods and past streams and rivers. It is favored by motorcyclists and sports car drivers. Rt. 10 ends at Higgins Bay on Piseco Lake, but the scenery continues, no matter the direction you choose. 43 miles, one way.
