After a rainy start to the summer we finally had a beautiful, sunny, warm day. My friends and I were feeling adventurous and wanted to do some mountain biking. We searched for different options and decided Fern Park in Inlet had what we were looking for.
Editor's note: The annual Black Fly Challenge will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017. Not sure what the challenge is or why you would want to take it? Check out this fun blog written by one of our very own staff cyclists - he was a newbie in 2016.
Car camping gone bad!
Although I grew up in the Adirondacks, I car camped only a few times. A couple of times was with my family, and once I went alone with my twins at Rollins Pond, when they were ten. I spent most of my time digging trenches around the tent due to the downpours, and when it cleared I was chasing after them on their bikes or keeping them out of the fire. Needless to say, it was stressfull! The plan was to stay five days — we stayed two nights!
Oak Mountain Bike Park
In Speculator when we say, "Let's go mountain biking," we mean it literally. We're not talking a nice ride on a dirt road, or a double track with a few bumps. We're talking Oak Mountain. I mean come on, if we can ski it, why wouldn't we ride it?
It's Simple Math:
Oak Mountain + Oktoberfest = Oaktoberfest
Mountain Biking + German Festival = 1 awesome weekend at Oak Mountain
