SPECULATOR — Pilots of all seaplanes, land planes and amphibious aircraft are invited to fly in to Speculator Pilots Weekend June 3 to 5, an opportunity to renew old friendships and make new ones.

Pilots are encouraged to bring non-pilot friends so they can learn more about aircraft and their potential for adding to the pleasure of an active lifestyle.

Complimentary transportation will be available to pilots throughout the weekend to the event's various activities — see event schedule below — and throughout the scenic Adirondack village.

The weekend's events include a safety seminar called "Preparing for the Unexpected." It will be presented by Doug Stewart, a 2004 National Instructor of the year, nine-time Master Instructor and Designated Pilot Examiner with more than 11,500 hours of dual instruction. He'll present a variety of scenarios including how to counter the "startle response" and how "threat and error management" can make you a safer pilot. He will also discuss proper response to engine failure, to inadvertent IMC encounter, and how to do the right thing when the unexpected happens. Participants will receive credit for the Wings Pilot Proficiency Award Program.

Attendees are also invited to visit the Piseco Airport to explore its photo museum of Adirondack bush pilots and their old-time airplanes, and to learn of their stories and activities.

Pilots who preregister with their names and email addresses will be eligible to win door prizes at the safety seminar. Please preregister by sending an email to rsnowy@frontiernet.net.
