Hiking Challenges
Enjoy an camping trip, and relax as you travel along wooded paths, past babbling mountain streams and through old growth pine forests. Find some of New York’s most unique hiking experiences in Hamilton County, including the Waterfall Challenge - a hiking adventure that travels from Death Falls to Buttermilk Falls. Or enjoy hiking to each of the Adirondack Wild’s five historic towers to complete the Firetower Challenge. Both hiking challenges are sponsored by Hamilton County Tourism, and a brochure outlining each route, as well as a commemorative patch is available.
Marvel at the panoramic views that extend as far as the eye can see from Snowy Mountain’s towering elevation, or simply enjoy the short hike through Cathedral Pines – a magnificent stand of virgin pines found in Blue Mountain Lake. Glimpse local wildlife such as boreal birds and watch for the flash of whitetail deer.
