Route 10-Averys Place
GPS Coordinates: ( 43.269190624931, -74.54852342605 )AriettaRoute 10 is a good place to bird and a favorite during the winter when there is a Crossbill invasion. The West Branch of the Sacandaga River flows along this road near Avery’s Place where there is excellent birding habitat. A meandering flatwater section of the West Branch of the Sacandaga River can be paddled from where Route 10 crosses the river near Chub Lake to the Shaker Place take-out. While in the area, visit the Piseco Airport where Eastern Bluebird and Savannah Sparrow occur along the runway.
Directions
Birders who take Route 10 to get to the Powley Road can do a rewarding loop by continuing south on Powley Road past Powley Place to the end of Powley Road. Take a left onto Seeley Road (at Knappville) to Route 29A, then east to Pine Lake for the final left onto Route 10 north.
