Inlet

This is a pleasant walk or bike ride on a dirt road to a clearing on the lakeshore which was once the site of the private Chapin estate built in 1904. The odd shape of the lake that resembles a beaver is said to be the orgin of its name.

Directions

From the Western entrance of the Moose River Plains area off Limekiln Road in Inlet, drive 8.3 miles to Otter Brook Road, where you head south for 1.2 miles crossing a bridge over the South Branch of the Moose River. Look for the trail head on the right just south of the bridge. Drive another 0.2 miles to the DEC barricade across the road and park.
