Oak Mountain Ski Area
An Adirondack Family Ski Area
For half a century, skiers have delighted in the wide trails and varied terrain of Oak Mountain. Nestled in the charming town of Speculator, Oak Mountain is one of Hamilton County’s most historic and beloved ski centers. Newly reinvigorated and re-opened to the public in 2011, Oak Mountain boasts 14 trails offering beginner to expert terrain.
Oak is the perfect mountain for an afternoon of Adirondack skiing with family and friends. A quad lift and two t-bar lifts, as well as a snow tubing hill, provide access to a wide range of activities and terrain for skiers and riders of every level. With a vertical drop of 650 feet, it’s a great place for beginners to start linking turns. Ample snowfall – averaging 120 inches each winter – and snowmaking equipment on 30% of the mountain provide optimum skiing conditions throughout the ski season.
Hours and Rates
Oak is open Friday through Sunday during the ski season. Ticket prices start at $32 for half a day of skiing, and equipment rentals are available at the base lodge. Group rates are available and children five and under ski free.
