Raquette River at the Long Lake Headwaters

Info

Long Lake, NY 12847

Anyone up for some wild fishing?

Getting there

From the 3-way intersection in the Hamlet of Long Lake follow Route 30/28N toward Blue Mountain Lake. Continue for just over 3 miles to North Point Road on the right. Follow North Point Road for around 2 miles to canoe carry on the right.

Fishing

Shoreline fishing is pretty good here, but upstream along the Raquette River is better because of the confluence of the lake and river.

You can put in a cartop boat here in this location for additional fishing opportunities onto the south end of Long Lake. Bass fishing here is actually pretty good, and rumor has it northern pike hang out deep and in the weeds here.

Fish species: rainbow trout, small mouth bass, panfish, northern pike

Special Regulations:

Always follow New York state fishing regulations and be sure to pick up a NYS Freshwater Fishing Guide at your local outfitters or regional NYSDEC office.
