Sumner Stream

Directions:

From the intersection of Route 28 and Limekiln Road in Inlet, follow Limekiln Road and turn left on Moose River Plains Road. Continue for about 9 miles to the crossing of Sumner Stream.

A secondary access point is 3 miles farther up Moose River Plains Road at the Lost Ponds trailhead. Continue on Moose River Plains Road for 3 miles to the trailhead on the left. Take this left and drive the access road for an additional 0.2 mile to the trailhead. This access road is quite rough and should be driven very slowly. Follow the trail toward Lost Ponds and to the bridge over the stream.

Shoreline Fishing:

The access is a bit tough in most areas, but these two locations are the best.

Insider Information:

  • With native and stocked brook trout you are sure to catch something decent.
  • Sumner Stream is best fished in the spring, when the water is higher and the temperatures cooler.
