Upper Sargent Pond is a great, short family hike to a wild pond setting.
The route is well marked with snowmobile and hiking trail markers. It leads south through a hardwood stand then skirts an evergreen marsh. Turn left at the fork to continue on to Upper Sargent Pond.
Location: Start at the three corners in Long Lake and drive south toward Blue Mountain Lake on Route 28N/30. Turn right on North Point Road after about 3 miles. Next, turn left at the fork and look for the trailhead, which is marked with state DEC signs, on the left side of the road after another 3 miles.
Distance: It's 1.4 miles to the pond.
Most people can do this easy round-trip hike in less than 2 hours.
