This is a wonderful trip in the fall, but also in the spring when all the trees bud out in gold and green. There are many scenic pull-offs for photo opportunities.
Cycling
From the Post Office in Lake Pleasant, take Route 98 north along the shore to the town of Speculator. Turn right at the 4.1 mile point to follow Route 8 south around the lake to the intersection with South Shore Road, which starts the trip back along the opposite shore of the lake. It makes a lovely loop of 10.4 miles.
Scenic drives
Lake Pleasant, the lake, has Lake Pleasant, the town, on the western shore, and Speculator on the eastern shore. There are gas and convenience stores plus lovely lodging and hearty dining.
