If you've ever been to Long Lake, you probably know about the ADK Trading Post (mostly because of their famous lobster rolls!). Things have gotten a little tricky in the Adirondacks, and everywhere really, in the world of retail and restaurants. Vickie Sandiford, the owner of the ADK Trading Post, has had to be creative to keep her business open and her customers happy.
The ADK Trading Post reopened at the end of April with a whole new approach to how they do business- Curbside Pick Up has become the new norm. They offer grocery shopping for their region of the North Country with zero contact. They have a long order form containing beef, poultry, fresh veggies, breads, pizzas, dairy, and so much more. They accept orders by email and once the items are received by the Trading Post, customers can come pick up their goods.
Customers are loving the safe option of pick up and not having to venture far from home, and she is able to keep staff to a minimum for their safety. Customers have come from Blue Mountain Lake, Indian Lake, Newcomb, Saranac Lake, and more to take advantage of this great opportunity.
While they are still offering their delicious paninis to go, they have had to cut back their hours to Thursday through Saturday each week to give themselves plenty of time to fulfill other orders. And don't worry, those famous lobster rolls are still available on Fridays! The Harvest panini is a favorite of mine: Turkey, sliced apple, bacon, cranberry horseradish sauce, and cheddar. YUM!
If you're looking for a great Adirondack souvenir, you can always visit ADKtradingpost.com and order some of their most popular items to be shipped straight to your house. Adirondack books, Long Lake t-shirts, high peaks patches, and so much more can be found right online. You won't soon forget your favorite vacation spot.
Make sure to check here for all of the businesses offering takeout specials during this time, and please continue to support our local shops! They depend on all of us, just like we depend on them!
We hope to see you all soon, but if you can't visit this year, just remember: We will be here!
