Post Thanksgiving Holiday Shopping Extravaganza

November is an especially quiet time for recreational events in our neck of the woods, sort of the "calm before the storm" of winter. But, don't be fooled as there are several fun annual holiday favorites that start the day after Thanksgiving! Pre-holiday events and shopping deals abound when Inlet hosts the "Adirondack Christmas on Main Street," Indian Lake is the scene for the "Christmas County Tour" and Speculator puts on the "Holiday Stroll".

Christmas Country Tour, Indian Lake
 November 28-20, 2014

Indian Lake is home to the 17th Christmas County Tour spanning the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. Spend the days from 9am-4pm on a self-guided Artisan and Crafters Tour throughout Indian Lake area and visit 25+ local vendors and stores to finish your shopping list! You'll be welcomed into many of the local homes to get a close up of their products for sale and see how they are crafted.

VISIT THE GOATS: Stop off and feed Nancy's Pygora goats, small in size, but with huge personalities. Watch as she spins their fur/fiber into yarn, or enjoy local holiday workshops. You'll meet and greet Nancy's pet Maremma dog, who protects the flock of goats from wild predators.

There are a variety of children's activities throughout the day including a candy cane hunt, story time with Mrs. Claus, as well as a showing of "The Puppet People, a children's program featuring 16 delightful puppets! And you do not want to miss Willemsen's model train exhibit and demo - exciting for all ages!  The Hedges, an historic resort in Blue Mountain Lake will offer facility tours and will allow you to step back in time while you enjoy the wonderful Adirondack architecture surrounding the property. Complimentary refreshments will be available from the gracious hosts, so do stop by.
