Let's Make Tracks!

3rd annual Snocade

From February 12th through February 22nd of 2016, Indian Lake will kick off SnoCade, a festival of all things snow! This is Indian Lake's 3rd year hosting this event, and it grows bigger each year.

There are so many snow related activities over the 9 days of this festival, there is something for everyone. Whether you enjoy snowmobiling, snowshoeing, skiing, or something a little warmer, there is something for all ages and abilities!

SnoCade will start out each morning with a nice 1 ¼ hour ski for intermediate and advanced skiers, heading down the Northville-Placid Trail. It's a great way to start the day and wake up with some nice fresh cool air! Other ski events will take place throughout the weekend as well, ranging in difficulty from novice to advanced. There are also multiple guided snowmobile trips to choose from.

You can take a ride from Indian Lake to Speculator and grab a bite to eat at the Acorn Pub at Oak Mountain before you head back. There are also snowshoe trips scheduled, including one to Pashley Falls. The Winter Water Rescue demonstration put on by the Indian Lake Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps. and DEC will show you the techniques and safety procedures that are required to rescue someone from the freezing lake.

Looking for some fun sporting events? Take part in the Human Foosball Game or throw some horseshoes in the snow! There will also be a bonfire and Torch Run.

For the Kids

If you are looking for some fun things to do with the kids, look no further! Join in the fun at the ski hill and build your own racing sled from cardboard and duct tape! And don't miss the dogsled rides provided by Run by Dogs LLC. The Library will be host to "Let's Make Tracks" where the kids will have story time accompanied by some craft time. There will also be a youth hockey game as well as Kitty Kat snowmobile races for 5-12 year olds.

Keep Warm

Prefer to stay a little warmer during the festivities? There are plenty of indoor activities as well! The Indian Lake Theater will be offering a few Free Movies (Including a Grease dance party!),"It's a Wonderful Life" as a staged radio play from the Cabin Fever Players, concerts and the live comedy "Forever SnoCade" that pokes fun at life here in the Adirondacks!

You won't want to miss out on the Winter Wonderland Craft Fair! Bring your knitting needles as well and join in on the Knit In at Byron Park! Knit with friends and learn some new skills. And for $35 per person you can take part in the Dinner Murder Mystery Theater! Help figure out "Whodunit" at Chrissy's Café!

Winterfest

Coinciding with SnoCade is also Indian Lake's Winterfest, which kicks off February 12th with a Fabulous 50s themed parade! There will be many Winterfest activities through the weekend including a Tricky Tray auction, a pancake and egg breakfast at the fire hall, and a book and cookie sale at the town hall!

Frostfest

Also occurring at the same time as SnoCade is the Adirondack Museum's FrostFest! Just a short ride up the road from Indian Lake is the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake. They will have FrostFest events happening from February 13th through the 21st. There will be museum exhibits open free of charge. You can join in the indoor activities and make some 3D snowflakes or s'mores! Participate in the Family Scavenger Hunt and don't forget to have your picture taken in the life-sized snow globe! Outside you can stomp around in some snowshoes, build a snowman, and look for animal tracks in the snow! Don't forget to stop by the gift shop for a gift for your valentine!
