The Annual Adirondack Ice Bowl Pond Hockey Tournament, which has been happening since 2009, will once again be held on 4th Lake in Inlet.
Participants and spectators alike look forward to planning for the next year's event as soon as the current year has ended. They travel far and wide to make it to Inlet for this Tournament. "This year, registration was opened earlier than ever and filled up fast," said Adele Burnett, the Tourism Director in Inlet.
Thursday is a day primarily for the participants, with early registration at the Screamen Eagle beginning at 6:30 pm, followed by the mandatory Captain's Meeting at 8 pm. The games begin Friday morning promptly at 8 am and follow a strict time line to make the best use of the daylight while it lasts. Each 4-6 player team is guaranteed to play three games, with more possible if they make it to the Championship Games! Saturday will also feature the Mite Jamboree, a youth hockey game.
There will be a ton of fun, both on and off the ice, that you won't want to miss out on! On-ice concessions open at 7:30 am both Friday and Saturday morning, with information and apparel booths. Starting at 8:30 am the Ice Bar will be open, serving beverages and showing the Syracuse games on the big screen. The Shanty Grill will open at 11:30 am and serve lunch to the crowds. There are also Shoot to Win competitions that take place both Friday and Saturday that spectators can participate in. Don't miss out on the Campfire or Live Music in the pavilion each night! There will also be a complimentary shuttle running Friday (8 pm- 2 am) and Saturday (2 pm-2 am) from Inlet to Eagle Bay to Old Forge, with stops including Deer Meadows, Drakes Inn, Fern Park Parking Area, Arrowhead Park Parking Area, The Woods Inn and Rocky Point Properties.
The Woods Inn will also be open all weekend, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner in their dining room - which directly overlooks the ice. Don't miss out on the SARANAC beer tastings being hosted by The Woods Inn at 1:30 pm both Friday and Saturday. The Inn will once again offer VIP packages, and new this year they will be offering Preferred Parking passes.
Saturday will bring the end of the preliminary games and the start of the medal games. The Medal Round begins at 3 pm, followed by the Masters (40+) Division Championship game at 6:15 pm held under the lights. The Open Division Championship will be held at 7:30 pm to wrap up the games.
