August Event Round Up

Durant Days and Boat Parade Weekend

August 1st and 2nd 

Come out and celebrate William West Durant the inventor of the Great Camps Style Architecture, who was born in Raquette Lake. You can take a boat tour of Raquette Lake, tour great camps, and listen to music performed by a wide variety of artists. The night will end with a fireworks show. If you are interested in the history of Raquette Lake this is something you won't want to miss!

Lane 10K Lake Run

August 2nd

Considered to be one of the toughest 10Ks in the Adirondacks, the Lake Run begins with registration at 9am. The start of the race is 10 am at the Lake Pleasant Firehouse, and it finishes at the Speculator Ball Field. Pre-registration is $22 and day of the race registration is $25. You can register online at Auyer Race Timing 10K Course. Following the south shore of Lake Pleasant, this race is accurately measured with some shade and a hilly scenic route.

Heart of the Park Craft Fair

August 2nd

Sponsored by the Town of Long Lake, the annual Heart of the Park Craft Fair takes place from 10am-4 pm at the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion. Looking for American wares? The works include: photographs, fudge, pottery, tee-shirts, canoe-paddles, unique textile art, jewelry, and many other special novelties. Admission is $1. Looking for something special? Check out this fair, it won't disappoint.

Float Night

August 6th

Come and build your cardboard float on Float Night! The last one floating is the winner. Cardboard and duct tape is provided. After the first roll of duct tape, they are $5. Local DJs Pat and Andrew will be spinning tunes during the contest, and local restaurants will deliver food for dinner at the beach. Come to watch or participate! You shouldn't miss out on this old time favorite event at the Long Lake Town Beach.

Town Wide Garage Sale

August 8th

Looking for treasures? Drive around Long Lake and hit as many garage sales as you can! Maps of garage sale locations are available at the Town Offices or Town Hall. The Friends of the Long Lake Library Lawn Sale and Book Sale will also be happening at the Long Lake Central School. The infamous homemade pie sale will be there also!

Oak Mtn Bluegrass and Arts Festival

August 8th

The Oak Mountain Bluegrass and Arts Festival is a celebration of music and arts in the mountains of the Adirondacks. Gates open at 12:30 pm and music starts at 1:30 pm. There is something for the whole family, great food, beer, and rides. $20 includes camping overnight  or $15 will get you into the festival for the whole day! Kids 12 & under are free with a ticketed adult.

Twigs Craft Fair

August 13th

Held at the Speculator Pavilion and Ball Field on Route 30, the TWIGS Craft Fair has been running for over 30 years. It takes place from 9 am to 4 pm, where you will find 155 booths of quality hand-made crafts. These booths will keep you busy shopping for the day! Food will be available for purchase and all proceeds go to benefit Hamilton County TWIGS.

Rondeaufest

August 15th

 The 4th Annual RondeauFest Music Festival is sponsored by the Town of Long Lake and will take place at the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion in Long Lake. It will go on not matter what the weather brings! The line up  include Sons of Octomom, Bob Stump and Roadside Attraction, Deep Blue, and others. North Country Kettle Corn and BBQ will be on site offering up goodies. Activities for kids will be going on along with a $5 tie dye workshop. The Town of Long Lake "Little Bus" Shuttle will also be running to take you back and forth!

Oak Runner Trail Run

August 30th

Test your toughness with this 5K or 10K trail run that climbs up and down and all around Oak Mountain Ski Area. After the race, win awesome prizes, and recover with amazing food and great beer! Race categories include: adult 5K or 10K, youth 5K or 10K, and kids 1K fun run, different prices accompany each category. Proceeds go to benefit youth activities in Hamilton County. This course is mountainous terrain; please make sure you are prepared. Cancellations will be accepted up to 48 hours before race day. For more information check out Oak Runner Trail Run.
